Now that school’s out for the summer, we’ve begun taking advantage of a freer schedule. But to make sure the summer does not slip away from us, I suggested that we create a schedule of our activities. Our summer is pretty wide open, which is how I like it. Unfortunately, the family reunion that was planned for this past long weekend did not happen. But we will hopefully see most of Matt’s family in August and we may visit his sisters in September.
As I don’t usually sign our kids up for camps, a lot of them were already full. I managed to sign Brighton up for one for a week but only half-days. The one that our girls were interested in was willing to squeeze them in but for four days, it was a bit too pricey. Instead, we discovered a great deal on the Summer Leisurecard back on Father’s Day and have been upping our fitness goals at The Field House.
Before Whitney tackled her planner, she made this beautiful Summer Bucket List poster the other day.
Today, we checked off a couple of things on her bucket list. She, Blythe and I went to Gong Cha and Karaoke and belted out some tunes for a few hours. The only other time I’ve done karaoke out of the house was over twenty years ago as part of a college assignment. That time, it was one of those open-mic type bars where you have to sing in front of strangers. I needed liquid courage then and many more years of practice. The assignment was called “Outside the Box” and was to force you out of your comfort zone. This time though, I was glad to be in the comfort of a private and sound proof room (though I think I’m a better singer now). And I loved that I got to share the experience with my daughters.
Blythe is still working on her Summer Bucket List…
And now I want to make one too. What would you put on yours?
